Zamberlan Fit

This is perhaps the most important characteristic or feature of a boot that you must judge for yourself. It is only by trying the boot out that one can verify the perfect compatibility. Elements of anatomy, detailed studies, but most of all a long term, direct experience has led Zamberlan to develop an extremely comfortable and well-fitting boot.

Very valid lasts; roomy toe box; correct flex point; adequate arch, ankle and torsional support; around-the-ankle comfort zone; comfortable hold of the heel; positive height; smooth wrap of the foot and even contact; sculptured padding; fine details in the manufacturing process. All these are important issues we take into account to provide good fit.

Zamberlan have different lasts, accordingly to different targets, such as the anatomy of the user and destination of the boot, as well as to the intended purpose of the boot. We have specific lasts for female users, that take into account the anatomy differences between male and female feet. We have different lasts for different markets as not all feet are the same. We also take into account the different intended purpose of the boot as we believe the necessities are not the same for an ice climbing boot versus a light weight boot for on-trail use.

Our boots do have a roomy toe box without being sloppy which allow the toes to wiggle and therefore to help keep you stable. A better, overall comfort is provided.

Thanks to the midsoles we use, our boots flex at the correct flex point, following the natural movement of the foot when walking, and the midsole in combination with the last and the upper ensure a correct and firm arch, ankle and torsional support, which are mostly appreciated when carrying loads or traversing.

The upper designs and padded collars ensure a good comfort zone around the ankle and we make sure the contact between the boot upper and the foot is even.

The heel and the toe cup together with the sculptured padding will help hold the foot in place and protect it from stones and pointed rocks.

The removable easy-to-wash Zamberlan footbeds are anatomically designed to grant a comfortable home for your feet. They take into account features like shock absorption, moisture and foot perspiration wicking, internal stability, helping to ensure a comfortable “inside the boot” environment.

After some break in, the boots will become gradually more comfortable and they will fully adapt to the individual foot shape, soon becoming old friends!

Zamberlan Quality

Quality has always been our top priority with no compromise, it is as simple as that. We put our utmost efforts, skills, knowledge and passion every single day to achieve a top quality product. Right from the scratch, from the selection of the raw materials, we only consider those that pass our exact quality standards.

They are checked upon arrival, the most important ones, such as leathers, right at the manufacturer’s premises.

Every single pair of boots is regularly inspected during each stage of the production cycle, and we are personally constantly involved in controlling the production line.

A rigorous quality check is made at each stage of the production cycle and our finishing department is extremely strict, readily rejecting any pair that does not match the standards we require.

Our team groups together qualified and skilled workers, all of them dedicated to their job.

Field tests are carried out before finalizing a new product and the Zamberlan family personally tests new ideas and models: Emilio on his hiking and trekking trips every Sunday, Marco on his ice climbing activity during the winter, scrambling, bouldering, hiking and backpacking during the Summer, Maria on her hiking and backpacking activity.

Quality also means development of new machines, tools and concepts to improve and smoothen the manufacturing process - such as the F.W.S. or the R.R.S. - and therefore obtain a better product.

Quality is the reason why all the boots of our traditional lines are “genuine Italian products”, produced completely and solely in Italy, in our one factory, where we work every day.

No part of our boots whatsoever is made abroad, in Countries where labor costs are cheaper or where the tradition for producing footwear is not as deeply-rooted as in Italy: we strongly feel we cannot compromise on this, because of ethics towards our workers as well as because of the highest and most consistent quality we want out of our products.

In order to suit new demands from the marketplace, we have recently developed a new range of footwear, named Move&Run that have different construction techniques and consequently different on field performance, yet all our quality standards are strictly applied to this side-range of boots and shoes.

Zamberlan developments

Here following is a list of the most important technical developments we have put in place during more than 70 years of experience in manufacturing top quality mountain boots.

made in Italy
The high-end styles are all hand crafted in Italy by our expert staff to ensure a product of high quality and value and to take full care of the details that make Zamberlan® footwear different.

made in Italy
Some models of the Zamberlan® footwear collection are produced in the European Community by experienced footwear workers, following highly reliable quality standards. The engineering and the choice of components are still directly put together by Zamberlan®.

made in Italy
A very traditional and extremely resistant construction method, which requires great skill and experience to be executed. It features two lines of stitching: the first fixes the upper to the midsole (which is specifically designed for this use), the second fixes the upper to the insole which will later be glued to the sole.

made in Italy
The exclusive, patent-pending Zamberlan® Welted construction combines the strength and durability of Norwegian Welted construction with the lightness and comfort of a lasted construction boot. The upper is stitched to the specially made insole with a single stitch line and the upper adhesion area is then glued around the insole to form the body onto which the sole is attached.

Inner Boot

Goretex GORE-TEX®
Registered trademark of W.L. Gore & Associates, an international corporation. In 1969 Bob Gore invented the micro porous membrane with remarkable properties of waterproofness and breathability. The effectiveness of the membrane is based on its structural characteristics. It is extremely porous, but the pores are up to 20.000 times smaller than a drop of water - yet approximately 700 times bigger than water vapor molecules produced during perspiration. Therefore, body moisture vapor can pass out through the membrane, while the wet and humidity are kept out. The GORE-TEX® membrane can be bonded to different materials, depending on its use, and used as a lining ensuring the best and most protective microclimate for your feet.

FWS F.W.S - Foot Wrapping System
An exclusive method from Zamberlan to shape the upper with special patented moulds.
The foot is perfectly wrapped, sensitivity, control and comfort are enhanced. The one-piece leather upper ensures a greater protection from water and a greater durability.

Dual ZCS
To reduce the impact of the foot on the terrain at every step, the Z.C.S. utilizes different types of shock absorbing materials all with high cushioning and stabilizing effects.

Dual Z.A.S. - Zamberlan Air System
Zamberlan special construction and design method and choice of components to optimize the comfort and the boot breathability.
Boots crafted accordingly are extremely light weight and extremely more breathable!

Outer Boot

Vibram VIBRAM ®
Is the trademark internationally recognized for the quality, durability and grip of the high performance rubber soles.

Hydro HYDROBLOC®
This is the trade mark registered by Zamberlan to identify only the best quality leathers, tanned following a special treatment that enhances the water-repellence, resistance and durability.

Hydro ZFS - Zamberlan® Flex-STM
Zamberlan® Flex-STM (patent) describes the unique multidirectional joint that offers great lateral support, comfort and freedom of movement of the ankle and overall stability. The boot upper flexes exactly trailing the natural foot and lower leg movement giving lots of lateral support when traversing and on steep and rough terrain.

RRS RRS - Rubber Reinforcement System
A special rubber reinforcement is applied to the upper, using an exclusive technical method developed by Zamberlan.
It ensures maximum abrasion resistance, enhances water repellence and helps the boot to keep its shape during extended use.

Zat Z.A.T. - Zamberlan Anti-Torsion System
It is the special stabilizer engineered by Zamberlan to achieve the best combination of torsional stability and flexion at the natural foot flex point.

Zat PCS - Pro Crampon System
Pro Crampon System: Zamberlan’s proposal for the fully automated crampon compatible footwear. It features a TPU insert in the heel and in the toe to which crampons are clipped-on, an anatomical, full length TPU midsole and a light micro-porous wedge for cushioning and thermal insulation. It ensures overall light weight, greater stability, precision when climbing and complete torsional rigidity.

Zat SEMI PCS - SEMI-Pro Crampon System
SEMI-Pro Crampon System is the method for footwear to be used with semi articulated crampons. It features a TPU insert in the heel to ease the fixing of the semi automated crampons, combined with a suitable midsole for the right degree of rigidity.
