The most important characteristic of a boot is its fit. To appreciate a superior fitting boot, you must actively experience the boots on their feet. It is only by wearing and testing a boot that one can verify its perfect compatibility.
Many factors must be considered when designing a perfect fitting boot. Zamberlan’s designs are the product of over 80 years of family research and experience, creating the most anatomically fitting boot possible. Our design process includes: anatomically correct lasts, appropriately sized toe boxes, ankle and torsional support, comfort surrounding the ankle and heel, anatomically sculpted padding, as well as scrupulous craftsmanship in the manufacturing process.
Our men’s and women’s lasts are designed to meet the anatomic and technical needs of our users. For example, we differentiate lasts between our ice-climbing boots and our lightweight trail boots. We also construct our boots using market-specific lasts as our research has shown that needs vary by region.
The Zamberlan fit allows for room in the toe box without feeling cavernous. This permits the toes to wiggle and improves stability. It also contributes to the overall comfort for the user.
We credit our midsoles for the correct flex-points in our boots. An accurate flex-point follows the natural movement of the foot when walking. Our midsoles, in combination with the last and the upper, establish a firm arch and ankle/torsional support. This is essential when carrying loads or traversing.
Our upper designs and padded collars give comfort around the ankle, while ensuring the contact between the boot upper and the foot is even.
The heel and the toe cup, together with the sculptured padding, will help to hold the foot in place and protect it from stones and pointed rocks.
The removable easy-to-wash Zamberlan footbeds are anatomically designed to grant a comfortable home for your feet. They take into account features like shock absorption, moisture and foot perspiration wicking, and internal stability. This ensures a comfortable “inside the boot” environment.
After a short break in period, the true comfort and fit of our bits can be appreciated. The boots will fully adapt to the individual’s foot, soon becoming old friends!
Quality has always been our top priority with no compromise, it is as simple as that.
Quality has always been our top priority, without compromise. We put our utmost efforts, skills, knowledge and passion into each day to achieve a top quality product.
A quality product begins by selecting superior raw materials. We only consider materials that pass our stringent quality standards. All materials are inspected upon arrival. The most crucial materials are inspected off-site.
On-site, our team of qualified and skilled workers is extremely dedicated to their jobs. Each pair of boots is routinely inspected during each stage of the production cycle. Our finishing department makes a rigorous quality check, readily rejecting any pair that does not match the standards we require.
Field tests are carried out before finalizing a new product. The Zamberlan family personally tests new ideas and models: Emilio on his hiking and trekking trips every Sunday, Marco on his ice climbing, scrambling, bouldering, hiking and backpacking, Maria on her hiking and backpacking activity.
Quality also means improving our machinery. This includes tools and construction methods to streamline the manufacturing process. Examples are the F.W.S. (Foot Wrap System) or the R.R.S (Rubber Rand System).
Quality is the reason why the boots of our traditional lines, our “genuine Italian products”, are still produced in Italy, in our factory, where we work every day. We cannot compromise on this based on our ethics towards our workers, as well, our demand for the most consistent quality in our products.
Here following is a list of the most important technical developments we have put in place during more than 70 years of experience in manufacturing top quality mountain boots.
