TOFANE GTX WNS - Waxed Camel

Lovely boots-well made, thank you, and instantly comfortable. I appreciate the craftsmanship. My size is already sold out -wow-I am fortunate to have my pair!

OMG, the Holy Grail. I'm wearing them as I type this, getting ready to go outside. These were sold out in my size in 2024. In 2024, I tried Tofane in an in-stock size that "might" work, and a different boot style in what I thought might be my best size (having never worn Zamberlans). Sent both back. Tofane finally back in stock in 2025, most sizes. So worth waiting for, instead of settling. In my 20s and 30s, I backpacked often, loved my nimble flexible lightweight Cordura and GTX boots, which were perfect for my needs at that time. Haven't backpacked in decades. Now a retired senior who wants to spend 10-12 hours a day, weather permitting, gardening, landscaping and maintaining our trees and acreage, which includes slopes, hills, woods, tall meadowlands, creeks etc. I have a poor sense of balance, weak ankles, arthritis in all the joints that you need to stay upright, for years, what detracted a lot from my enjoyment of yardwork was struggling to not fall. I had lightweight hiking boots from a respectable brand, but I needed much better stability underfoot and much better ankle support to feel safe and to be able to focus on the wonder of nature. Since receiving these, I LIVE in them. I cannot say enough about the steadiness, balance and ankle support they provide. They are the Sherman Tanks of hiking boots; perfect for my current needs. I have traction to help me muscle heavy wheelbarrows up hill and grip and support to ease heavy wheelbarrows down lumpy slopes to woods without being propelled pell-mell into the brambles or into the woods. I can walk the rough stone terracing in one part of the yard one foot in front of the other, like any other location, whereas, in my old hiking boots, I stopped for several seconds between each step, focusing my eyes, trying to feel more balanced before taking one step and repeating. My husband, at first, thought I could have found an appropriate boot for half the price, but, watching me these weeks, now thinks they are justified and will pay for themselves in medical expenses from one prevented fall and fractures (I've had a bunch). He jokes about them "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down" : )

I was shocked at how immediately comfortable this boot is. I have been wearing it to work in order to break it in, and so far have not had any issues with discomfort and typical break-in issues. The fit is fairly true to size, just a little on the bigger side which will be helpful in accommodating for a larger sock as temperatures drop. The only downside I've found to the Tofane so far is that it is such a good looking boot that I don't want to get it dirty by hiking or hunting in it!

So far I am loving my boots. I have hiked probably only 20km in them now, short stints in the Canadian Shield and Rockies! They are still new to me but they are breaking in nicely. I have also worn them walking around town to speed up the break-in and they are very comfortable. Waterproof, breathable, and stable. The sole is also quite grippy in various snow conditions which I was impressed by. They are of course amazing on rocky, muddy, tree root adorned terrain. They seem well constructed and ready to take a beating. I love them!

I finally broke down and got these for my wife and a pair of the men’s for myself. We’ve been loving them.
I’m glad these are available in women’s now!
After a brief break in period, these boots are great! A little stiff right out of the box but very comfortable. After wearing them around the house they have a little more give in the right places.
No complaints.

Wish these would have fit - still may get them one day in a larger size, but I had to make a quick decision because my hike was to start right away, and I needed some boots like..."yesterday" to break them in, didnot have time to send for the next size up. These were the best made and buttery softest... and most beautiful boots I have ever tried on or seen...!!!
